Terms of Use

Effective September 13, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Stephan Hamberger ("Callbuddy", "we") for the Callbuddy iPhone app and service. By creating an account you accept them. Where you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is not responsible for the service.

What Callbuddy is

Callbuddy gives you a dedicated phone number and an automated assistant that answers calls your carrier forwards to that number, talks to the caller, and sends you a summary, transcript, and recording. It does not answer, block, or intercept calls on your phone itself. Whether a call reaches the assistant depends on your carrier's call forwarding, which you set up and can turn off at any time. Callbuddy is available for iPhone users with a carrier in the United States or Canada.

Your account

Your phone number is your account. You must be at least 13 and able to receive text messages at that number. Keep your device secure; what happens under your account is your responsibility. You can delete your account from Settings at any time.

Your responsibilities

Emergency calls

Callbuddy is not a phone service and cannot be used to make or receive emergency calls. Calls you place from your iPhone, including emergency calls, are never routed through Callbuddy. Do not forward a line that people might use to reach you in an emergency without another way to reach you.

Subscriptions

Screening requires a Callbuddy Pro subscription: monthly, or yearly with a free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of the free trial. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may change with notice; a change applies from your next renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Your content

Recordings, transcripts, summaries, and settings are yours. You give us permission to store and process them only as needed to run the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. We don't sell them or use them for advertising.

The assistant

The assistant, summaries, and ratings are produced by automated systems and can be wrong. Callers' claims about who they are are shown as claims and are never verified by us; only a match against your own contacts is marked verified. Don't rely on Callbuddy as your only way to receive important or time-critical calls, and check the transcript before acting on a summary.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Callbuddy running, but calls can be missed, delayed, or misrouted because of carriers, telephony providers, or outages, and we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we discontinue the service, we'll give you a chance to export your data.

Liability

Callbuddy is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for missed calls, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to something else.
